The 6 Best Washing Machines for Your Home under ₹30,000
Our testing methodology involves several steps to test and rate washing machines. These steps cover washing technology, energy consumption, water consumption, stain removal, noise level measurement, spin efficiency and real life performance testing.
Also we consider AI Wash, fast washing, reliability, comprehensive warranty availability and more. For example some washing machines like LG Direct Drive and IFB SERENA have excellent service network across India.
Every device listed on this review is tested using the same process so that the results are consistent and accurate especially when comparing different models.
If you are the new person to front load washing machines and you are ready for investing near about the ₹30,000 mark, then the IFB Serena GXN 7012 is the best option which we are recommending. This washing machine is having a 1200 RPM spin speed and the temperature also can be set by using the inbuilt heater for the hot wash cycles. Like I have mentioned before also, the crescent moon drum design is making it gentle on the fabrics and at the same time it is delivering the effective wash result.

It is coming with 22 wash programs in the total. The on-panel programs are including Mix/Daily, Cotton, Baby Wear, Steam Refresh, My IFB (Custom), Express 15′, Synthetic, Cradle Wash, SpinDry/Rinse, Bulky/Bedding/Curtains/Duvet and also Tub Clean. So, in the beginning it can become little bit overwhelming for the person. The extra 11 programs which are on the app, they are including Anti-Allergen, Express 30′, Wool, Power Steam, Sports Wear, Uniform, Dark Wash, Jeans, Inner Wear, Shirt/Blouse and Linen.
The overall performance of this washing machine is very much excellent. Its wash programs are working as it is promised. In many other washing machines, you are having to run the extra rinse cycles because many times the clothes are not getting cleaned properly in the time and water level which these programs are setting. But in IFB, that problem is very minimal, only condition is that you are loading the clothes as per the capacity which is mentioned.
Like the same way of all our washing machine testing, the first load which we are washing is one mixed fabric load with the everyday type stains. I have collected one full week worth of laundry – cotton shirts, two-three polyester t-shirts, and one lightly stained bedsheet – and I have loaded all of them inside the drum. I have selected the Mix/Daily program and I have allowed the machine to do its own thing.
Even though these were not the heavily soiled clothes, still I was very keen for trying out the DeepClean function. This function is doing the optimisation of the wash cycle with one combination of steam and the swirl wash motions.

After 20 minutes only, I have checked the progress through the LED display and I am finding that the machine is already finishing the main wash and it is going inside the rinse cycle. I was little bit curious that whether the cold water wash will be handling the turmeric stain which was there on one of the cotton shirt, so I have made one mental note that I will check it once the cycle is becoming complete.
After the cycle is getting over, the clothes were cleaned evenly and the turmeric stain also has faded very significantly. I am knowing that some people, they may think of running it one more time for the fully spotless finishing, but for one daily wash cycle only, the results were more than satisfactory for me. I was very seriously impressed by seeing how effectively the IFB has handled that mixed load – in under 50 minutes only I am getting the perfectly cleaned clothes which are also smelling very fresh. On top of that, I have not used any hot water but still it has cleaned the stains more better than what a semi-automatic will do even with the hot water and extra detergent, which is proving that the front load machines are really capable to save the water and also to deliver the superior cleaning.

The Bosch WAJ24209IN is standing as one of the best front load washing machine for those households who are giving priority to the quiet operation and also the build quality, and this is happening because of its EcoSilence Drive motor. Means, it can run even a full cotton cycle in night time also without making disturbance to anyone, almost in silent manner.

This washing machine is having 15 wash programs and it is using one standard plug only. The three main points which are making this machine different are: first the AI ActiveWater Plus, which is sensing the load weight in intelligent way for adjusting the water level; second the SoftCare Paddles, which are tumbling the clothes very gently so that tangling and wrinkle is not happening; and third the anti-vibration side panels, which are reducing the operational noise in big way.

The washing machine is having 15 wash programs. In the beginning only, I have set the temperature at 40°C and I selected the Cottons program for one regular load. Same like the previous option, this washing machine is doing thorough work and it is able to clean the clothes without the use of excessive water.
At the midpoint I decided to check that how the spin cycle is performing, and I am glad that I checked, because the machine was surprisingly quiet even on the 1200 RPM speed. So because of this I continued further without doing any adjustment.
After the cycle got completed, the clothes were cleaned in perfect way. They were nice and also fresh in smelling, with good level of moisture extraction coming from the spin cycle. No any extra detergent was needed for this.
From the dirty clothes to the perfectly clean condition in only 55 minutes on the standard cotton cycle. This is one thing which I am seeing previously only with the premium European brands, so from starting itself I am impressed.
Now actually I should not be surprised, because the steam anti-bacteria function really is taking one higher temperature and also a little more time. That is the usual thing only. But for my quick mid-week wash, I was not ready for waiting so much long time.
So I have tried the Quick 15 program for seeing that whether it will do the job or not for the lightly soiled clothes. After all these were very lightly worn office shirts only.
But once the 15 minutes were finishing, the results were impressive. The Quick wash function really is doing its job in proper manner as it should do, and there is no any short cut in the cleaning quality over here.
Instead of doing testing of another quick cycle, I have decided to try the Steam anti-bacteria function. I have put one load of baby clothes inside, then selected the steam wash and started it.

This one worked in perfect way. After taking out the clothes and doing checking of them, I was having thoroughly sanitized and perfectly cleaned baby clothes, which were smelling fresh and also were softer in noticeable manner. They are not holding any detergent residue, so really this is the case of wash and then wear with full confidence, and the steam function really is giving them one amazing level of hygiene.

The Samsung WW70R22EK0X/TL is coming with 1200 RPM spin speed. Its 12 wash programs are including 15′ Quick Wash, Cotton, Daily Wash, Delicates, Denim, Eco Drum Clean, Hygiene Steam, Rinse + Spin, Spin, Super Eco Wash, Synthetics and Wool, which is more or less what you are expecting from one capable front loader. Samsung is having the Diamond Drum with 25% smaller water exit holes, and these holes are sitting deep inside the diamond-shaped depressions. Also, it is having one Ceramic Heater which is more durable and also more energy efficient if you compare with the standard metal heaters. Since this machine is using the EcoBubble technology, the detergent is getting dissolved into bubbles first, before the wash cycle is even starting, so that it can go inside the fabrics 40x faster than the normally dissolved detergent. You can go with cold water for the energy saving, or warm water when the stains are being tougher.

The drum capacity of 7 kg is enough for one family of 3–4 members.
If this washing machine is not your first front load one, then Samsung can be a good option to think about. Most probably you are already having good idea about the wash programs and the temperature which is required for the different fabrics, so you can adjust the settings by yourself accordingly. I am saying this because, if you compare with IFB, here the number of wash programs is limited, and due to this some specific fabric types are left without their own dedicated program. For example, there is no separate program for the sportswear, the baby clothes or the bedding, which anybody with such specific needs will surely know is a useful addition to have.
Nowadays a lot of front load washing machines are boasting that they can handle the hard water very effectively, which is one thing that can be quite useful for Indian households. Now this Samsung model is not specifically promoting any hard water treatment function, so I was becoming curious to see how nicely it is coping when washing the clothes in hard water, which is one common challenge in many of the Indian cities.
You will also be noticing that this washing machine is taking slightly longer time in the Cotton cycle if you compare with Bosch, even though Samsung is claiming the same 1200 RPM. One more disadvantage is that the jog dial interface of the machine is becoming bit finicky at the time of selecting the programs with wet hands – this is something which you are not facing in the push-button panel of IFB and in the well-spaced controls of Bosch.

Because the machine was not having any dedicated hard water treatment function like the Aqua Energie of IFB, the whole process did involve a bit of trial and error with the detergent dosage and also the temperature. I found that cold water with the standard detergent was leaving some residue on the dark clothes – eventually it would have reached there only, but the real bonus of EcoBubble is the effective cleaning at the lower temperatures – and 60°C started to fade some of the colours. So I found that 40°C with the liquid detergent was more or less the sweet spot, and it was taking around 55 minutes to bring the clothes to the correct level of cleanliness.
But importantly, it worked. And once I had taken out the clothes and let them dry, I was having a really fresh and clean batch of laundry.

With the 1200 RPM spin speed, and also a compact depth of only just 44 cm, the LG FHB1207Z2M is standing as one among the best options for those households which are having the limitation of space, and this is the reason we are recommending it.

It is having 10 wash programs in total. These are namely Cotton, Cotton Large, Mixed Fabric, Quick 30, Allergy Care, Activewear, Hand/Wool, Delicates, Tub Clean and also Rinse+Spin. The wash programs are working in a fairly optimal manner and they are capable to clean the various fabrics upto the satisfaction level.
Unlike the bigger front loaders, which are demanding the 55-60cm depth and also asking for a spacious utility area, the compact 44cm depth of LG is giving much more flexibility for the placement.
One among the most standout features is the 6 Motion Direct Drive, which is making use of six different types of drum motions, that is tumbling, rolling, stepping, scrubbing, filtration and the swing, so that it can match with the fabric type. Because of this, even the smaller list of programs is able to fulfil a decent range of the fabric care needs.
This particular washing machine is not having the WiFi connectivity, and also there is no app for unlocking the additional programs like how the IFB is doing. Some of the more feature-rich models are indeed offering this facility, but still it is easy enough to do the selection of the correct program from the 10 which are available, so because of this I did not felt this as a very massive drawback.
The drum is also having enough largeness, so that you can do the washing of a full 7 kg load in comfortable manner at one single go. Unlike the other options, the control panel is a sleek touch panel which is placed at the front side, along with an LED display.
I have used the Cotton program, which was working nicely, but since my load was little on heavier side, because one bedsheet was also included inside, so I did the addition of one extra rinse, just to make sure that all the detergent is getting removed properly. After doing this, the clothes were perfect, with a really fresh smelling from inside and also a good level of moisture extraction was happening from the spin cycle.
One downside of this machine is that it is not having any dedicated Baby Wear program or a separate Allergy-specific steam program apart from the standard steam wash, so due to this you are having to depend upon the Allergy Care program only for all the hygienic washing needs.

The washing performance is coming as satisfactory for the everyday fabrics, that is cotton and the synthetics. But, at the time of washing the heavily soiled workwear, it is tending to leave the faint stain marks, if we do comparison with the IFB and the Bosch.

The aftersales service of the LG is also coming as fairly prompt one.

The Whirlpool XS8014BWME is more or less the heavy-duty type option in this list. It is coming with 1400 RPM spin speed – highest in this list – and also 8 kg capacity. Even though it is little more costly than the other options, still you can wash the full week laundry for one family of 5-6 members in single load only. But one thing to note, this washing machine is clearly more noisy at 72 dB in the spin cycle.
The thing which should be noted here is that, unlike the previous options in the list, this washing machine is having the highest spin speed at 1400 RPM. There is a clear difference in how much dry the clothes are coming out after the spin cycle, if you compare with the 1200 RPM machines. But other than this, the noise is one thing you have to accept, and you will need to plan the wash cycles in the daytime hours only.
The washing performance is quite good enough. By using the 6th Sense Soft Move technology, the machine is automatically adjusting the drum movements according to the type of fabric and the load, and the clothes are coming out fairly well cleaned and with very less tangling. But when it is the matter of delicate items like silk sarees, we are recommending not to use the standard cycle. You are taking the risk of damaging the fabric because of the higher spin speed. Instead, you can better select the Delicates program at the reduced spin speed of 800 RPM, so you can wash them in safe manner.
One thing which really amazed me about this washing machine is that the Fresh Care+ function keeps on passing the steam and rotating your clothes until 6 hours after the wash cycle is completed. So I decided to test this by leaving the clothes purposely inside the drum for 4 hours after the cycle was over. I loaded the machine with the normal cotton load, same as my usual wash routine. The good thing about this machine is that you are not needing to rush for taking the clothes out, because the Fresh Care+ function is stopping the odour and wrinkles. I set the washing machine on the Cotton program for a normal cycle, and the result was exactly what I was expecting. After 4 hours, the clothes were still fresh, without any musty smell at all, and with very less wrinkles which were easy to iron out.

For seeing how the washing machine is handling the tough stains, we decided to try to wash some kitchen towels which had oil and turmeric stains. Following the guide given in the instructions, first we selected the Heavy Duty cycle with hot water. After that, by using a pre-wash with stain remover, we loaded eight towels inside the drum and put them for the full cycle at 60°C. Once the cycle got completed, the towels were surprisingly clean, and more importantly, they were very evenly cleaned. Even though we did not pre-soak them, like the way you are doing for hand washing, the stains got reduced very much, and the turmeric marks were almost fully gone. Also the self-cleaning drum technology kept the inside portion fresh, so the washing machine itself was also staying clean. Perfect.
In overall, the washing machine is quite easy to use and also to maintain. The higher noise level can be a drawback for the apartments which are having thin walls. But you can manage this issue by scheduling the wash cycles in the suitable hours only.

Coming with 1200 RPM spin speed and 8 kg capacity, the Haier HW80-IM12929CS8U1 is having one innovative drum design. The one main advantage which we can see here is the 525mm Super Drum, and this is bigger than the normal standard drums that comes in other 8 kg machines, so it is improving the wash efficiency nicely.

This washing machine is having 16 wash programs. Same like every other washing machine of this list, the inbuilt heater is allowing the temperature selection, and all the programs can be selected from the control panel only.
When we talk about the performance side, because of the knob-based controls and the interface, it is taking little bit of time to get used to it if you compare with the touch panel options in this list. For one example, it took us some few wash cycles for figuring out the best optimal settings for the different fabric types. Because the interface is less intuitive, there is one chance that the new users can select the wrong program in the beginning. When we tried the various wash programs which are available, we found that the Puri Steam function was delivering excellent result for sanitizing the baby clothes and the bedsheets. The standard cotton cycle is working fine for the regular daily loads. But when it is coming to washing the heavily soiled workwear, the result was slightly inferior than IFB and Bosch, and this is one thing which we did not faced in those premium machines.
While all the other options are having one sleek touch panel or the push-button type interface, in Haier there is a rotary knob for the program selection, same like what you are seeing on the older European models. But still it is functional and slowly you get used to it with time. The knob is feeling sturdy while you are turning it, but not that much premium like a touch panel is giving.
Same like Samsung, the Haier is also having one standard drum without any specific hard water treatment feature. So while you are washing the clothes in hard water areas, the detergent residue is tending to stay back on the dark fabrics, and this is becoming one hassle for the user.
I loaded one regular cotton wash with 6 kg of everyday clothes and I selected the Cotton program. Once the cycle got started, I was very keen for seeing how this larger 525mm drum will perform if we compare with the standard-sized drums. After watching the wash cycle for few minutes through the toughened glass door, I noticed that the bigger drum was giving the clothes more room for tumbling freely, which should theoretically be improving the wash quality also.

Following the instructions given on the panel, I manually selected the Puri Steam function for one load of bedsheets. The steam cycle was running for around 15 minutes before the main wash started. In just under 65 minutes of total time, the bedsheets came out thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. I was fairly impressed with the cleaning quality, especially because the larger drum was allowing the bedsheets to spread out properly during the full wash cycle.
Finally, I washed one batch of the delicate silk garments. I am very particular about the silk care, but still, when I have washed silk in other machines it is sometimes coming out with snags or the colours are running, which is a frustrating thing.
I used three silk kurtas and one silk saree for testing how the Haier is coping with the delicate fabrics. I selected the delicates program and I set the spin speed to the lowest available option.
I checked in the halfway of the cycle for seeing if there is any colour bleeding, and to my relief, there was not any, the colours were holding perfectly.
The silk garments came out well-cleaned before the full cycle was ending, all the pieces retained their nice sheen and the fabric was still soft and smooth also.
Overall, when it is coming to the wash quality and the user-friendliness, this machine is lagging behind the Bosch and the IFB.

How To Choose A Front Load Fully Automatic Washing Machine?
Given below are the important factors which you must have to consider at the time of choosing one front load washing machine.
Capacity
Capacity is coming as the first and the most foremost aspect that you are needing to give consideration while you are buying a front load washing machine. One 7 kg washing machine is remaining sufficient for the family of 3-4 members, and it can be handling comfortably one mixture of daily wearing clothes, some couple of bedsheets and also towels inside a single load only. This much is becoming enough for washing near about 7-8 shirts, 3-4 trousers, few undergarments and also one bedsheet all together at one time.
Whirlpool and also Haier are selling the 8 kg front load washing machines also in this same price range. These ones are more better suited for the larger families having 5-6 members, who are generating more quantity of laundry.
If you are searching for one smaller washing machine only for just 1-2 peoples, then in that case one 6 kg front load washing machine will be doing the sufficing of your needs.
Spin Speed (RPM)
Almost each and every front load washing machine in this range is operating at the 1200 RPM spin speed. But, the RPM is playing one important role for determining that how much dry the clothes are coming out after finishing the spin cycle. The much lower the RPM is there, the much more moisture is remaining inside the clothes. So because of this the clothes are taking longer time for air drying on the clothesline. As the result of this, there is remaining one higher chance that clothes can develop the musty type smell during the monsoon season time, when the drying is taking more longer.
Ideally speaking, one 7 kg front load washing machine should be having at least the 1200 RPM spin speed, and one 8 kg machine like the Whirlpool XS8014BWME which is having 1400 RPM is remaining ideal for being able to extract the maximum water but without doing the over-stressing to the fabrics.
Dimensions and Footprint
Front load washing machines are taking up near about 60 x 60 cm of floor space inside the bathroom or the utility area. Sometimes it is even taking more also, depending upon the capacity. So, before doing the buying of one front load washing machine, you must ensure that sufficient space is there in your bathroom or the utility area for installing it. Also, as being one heavy type appliance, they are requiring one level surface and also the adequate plumbing connections. Hence, you should see that water inlet and the drain connections are there which are easy for accessing. If the washing machine is having one compact depth like the LG which is at 44 cm, then it is most likely to be fitting inside the tighter spaces also. The Whirlpool, even after being one 8 kg machine, is requiring the 60 cm depth and 64 cm width, which is remaining the largest footprint on this whole list.
Wash Programs
The wash programs are one much important factor which we must considering, specially for those households where many varied fabrics are washing. Ideally, one should be opting for such washing machine that is having dedicated programs for the cotton, synthetics, delicates, wool, baby wear and also quick wash, same like IFB is providing. And another one important aspect also is there, that is the availability of steam wash function, which is helping much in the sanitizing of clothes and also in removing of allergens – this being particularly very useful for those families who are having infants or the members who are allergy-prone.

Mostly the front load washing machines are having 10 to 16 wash programs for the different fabric types and also different soiling levels. So at the time when you are selecting one program, the machine it is adjusting the wash duration, the temperature and also the spin speed according to that only. Without these dedicated programs, there is coming a very high chance that fabrics can getting damaged, or else they are not getting cleaned in proper manner. But the options like IFB Serena and also Bosch WAJ24209IN, they are having well-optimised programs which are adapting themselves as per the load. So whenever the need is coming to wash one specific fabric type, you can just doing selection of the appropriate program, and after that the machine it is handling all the rest very comfortably.
Almost each and every front load washing machine is easy for the maintaining. Since the drum it is made from stainless steel and also the self-cleaning programs are being available, so you will not facing much trouble for keeping them in fresh condition. Most of them are having one tub clean function also. But still, we are recommending that you should running the tub clean cycle at minimum one time in a month, so that the odour buildup which is coming from the detergent residue can be prevented.
Energy Rating and Efficiency
These days mostly the front load washing machines which are coming in this price range, they are having 5 star energy rating, and this is being the highest one which is available. Normally they are consuming somewhere between 0.045 to 0.06 KWh/kg/cycle only.

The budget friendlier options which are there in the top-load segment, they are having 3 to 4 star rating, and because of this the electricity bills are becoming noticeably much higher. This one is generally not so efficient like the 5 star front loader is being. So if the budget is permitting, then you should opting for one 5 star rated front load washing machine only.
Price
The starting price of front load fully automatic washing machine is coming from around ₹22,000 onwards. The expensive models are having better build quality, more quiet motor, many wash programs and also advanced features like WiFi and AI, but the cheaper one usually not having all these things. Also, one point to note is that cheaper front load machine can make more vibration and noise in beginning time, but this thing can become less after few weeks of using, when the machine is settling down properly. You can reduce this problem by making sure the machine is putting on a fully level surface and the adjustable legs are balanced in correct way. After one month of use, it is better you are doing the levelling check one more time.
Warranty and After-Sales Service
The front load washing machine should be having one comprehensive warranty which is covering the product and the motor in separate way. IFB is leading in front with 4 year comprehensive warranty and also 10 year motor warranty, and after that Haier is coming with 4 year comprehensive and 12 year motor warranty. Bosch is giving 2 year comprehensive but with one impressive 12 year motor warranty. Luckily, most of the major brands in India are having a decent service network in the metros and tier-1 cities.
Water and Detergent Compatibility
If you are staying in one area where hard water problem is there, then it is good thing to choose brands like IFB which is coming with Aqua Energie technology for doing the hard water treatment, or other option like Bosch which is optimising the detergent mixing by AI ActiveWater.

Otherwise, you should use one water softener or the liquid detergent for getting better wash result. Only depending on powder detergent in hard water area may not be enough for getting the spotless cleaning.
