Differences between IFB & LG Models
LG is a more established global electronics brand vs IFB. IFB’s TL and base SERENA models have more specialised washing technology than LG’s regular lineup. But the LG FHD0905SWM with its TurboWash 59 is a notable upgrade.
Comparing IFB to LG’s higher end models there is a difference. IFB WDR Executive ZMN, SERENA ONX series and other high end models have more unique features than most LG washing machines.
IFB Washing Machines Series
This brand offers a specialised selection of washing machine types, ranging from front loads and top loads to advanced washer-dryer combos. To keep up with the ever-changing laundry market, they also now manufacture AI-powered smart washing machines.
The current lineup of washing machines in the IFB Executive, SERENA, and TL series includes:
- IFB Executive – Includes the IFB WDR Executive ZMN (9/6/3 kg washer-dryer-refresher), featuring 3-in-1 functionality with steam refresh capabilities and AI-powered technology.
- IFB SERENA – Includes the SERENA ONX 9012 (9 kg), SERENA ONX 8012 (8 kg), SERENA OXN 7012 CMS (7 kg), all featuring DeepClean® Technology, PowerSteam®, and 9 Swirl wash technology.
- IFB TL 800 Series – Includes the IFB TL801MG1 (8 kg top load) with ActivMix technology, Aqua Energie water treatment, and Triadic Pulsator design.
- IFB TL 700 Series – Includes various 7 kg models with similar features to the 800 series but smaller capacity.
IFB has made a number of changes to their technology lineup, which can sometimes make for impressive comparisons.
To help make things a little more simple, IFB has 3 different series of machines. Their newest is the SERENA series, which includes their latest and greatest features.
LG Washing Machines
LG is the company behind multiple home appliance innovations. This brand specialises in two kinds of washing machines, including:
• Front Load – for maximum efficiency
• Top Load – for user convenience
In the LG vs. IFB battle, LG will be the main contender.
LG washing machines come in a variety of series types and models, but for the sake of this review, we will primarily be looking at the following:
- FHD Series: LG FHD0905SWM (9/5 kg washer-dryer)
- FHB Series: LG FHB1209Z2M (9 kg), LG FHB1208Z4M (8 kg), LG FHB1207Z2M (7 kg)
- T Series: LG T80V4OB1S (8 kg top load)
There are a number of older FH and T series models available. However, they are older and you get much better performance with the current lineup for about the same price.

Top IFB Washer models
IFB WDR Executive ZMN – Washer Dryer Refresher
The IFB WDR Executive ZMN is the best IFB washing machine available in the market.

3-in-1 is the most notable feature of this machine. You just need to select the mode for your laundry.

Executive ZMN has AI technology, excellent germ kill, steam refresh without water, multiple drying modes and more. It’s the most versatile and premium washing machine we have tested so far.
- Number of Washing Cycles: 16
- Run Time: 120 minutes (wash+dry), 30 minutes (refresh)
- Dry Clothes: Up to 95%
- Number of Drying Cycles: 6
Pros
• 3-in-1 saves space and is super versatile
• Incredible germ kill (99.9% reduction)
• Steam refresh without water or detergent
Cons
• Most expensive machine in the market

It’s the most expensive, but it’s objectively the most versatile performer with the most features. Bottom line, it’s arguably the best washer-dryer-refresher currently being sold anywhere. It has got convenience, AI technology, steam refresh, and extraordinary performance. If you want the best, get the Executive ZMN.
LG FHD0905SWM
Improving on their own design and providing strong competition to IFB, the LG FHD0905SWM is an excellent washer-dryer combo. It comes in a single version with AI Direct Drive technology.
They had fantastic TurboWash 59 technology in our research, completing full wash cycles in just 59 minutes. Plus the Wi-Fi connectivity through LG ThinQ app performed well.
The LG FHD0905SWM navigates well with 14 wash programs, has a self-contained drying function, and app for remote control and monitoring.
- Number of Washing Cycles: 14
- Run Time: 59 minutes (wash+dry)
- Dry Clothes: Up to 92%
- Number of Drying Cycles: 14
Pros
• TurboWash 59 completes full cycle in record time

Top LG Washer Models
LG FHD0905SWM – Washer Dryer

With TurboWash 59 technology, the LG FHD0905SWM is a strong competitor to IFB’s machines. It offers fantastic speed with fabric protection functionality. Plus AI Direct Drive and LG ThinQ app connectivity. It comes in a single version that combines washing and drying effectively.
IFB SERENA ONX 9012
While not offering washer-dryer combo functionality, the IFB SERENA ONX 9012 is a great front-load machine and has AI-powered intelligence, like the Executive ZMN and other SERENA models.

The SERENA ONX digitally detects your fabric type, can be controlled over your smartphone, and has “DeepClean®” technology that provides superior cleaning. It doesn’t have the 3-in-1 functionality of the high-end Executive, but it was still a pretty good performer in specifications.
- Number of Washing Cycles: 9
- Run Time: 15 minutes (Express)
- Spin Speed: 1400 RPM
- Steam Wash: Yes
Pros
• Highest spin speed at 1400 RPM
• Relatively low energy consumption at 0.057 kWh/cycle
• AI-powered with 22 wash programs
Cons
• No drying functionality
• Large footprint compared to top-load models
So what does that leave us with – the SERENA ONX? In my honest opinion, the SERENA ONX is the washing machine that checks all the right boxes if you want the benefits of AI-powered washing but are on a tight budget looking for a front-load option. The SERENA ONX lacks on the drying front, but gets full marks for its spin speed, the variety of wash programmes it comes with and its energy efficiency. And let’s not forget to say that its performance specs are pretty impressive too. If you really want a washing machine that incorporates AI and want a front-loader to boot, then this is your best bet.
LG FHB1209Z2M – Most Water Efficient

While the LG FHD0905SWM might be their top pick, you can’t really argue with the water efficiency of the LG FHB1209Z2M. Its water conservation is absolutely fantastic, at 7.5 L/kg/cycle, and it performs ok on the energy consumption front too. But the real star of the show is its 6 Motion DD technology which actually optimises the different motion combinations for every type of fabric.
It does come with a catch though – you’ll need to get a separate dryer but on the plus side you get a 5-star energy rating which should help keep your operating costs down. Plus it’s got Direct Drive tech which means it’s nice and quiet when it’s running.
- Number of Washing Cycles: 10
- Run Time: 30 minutes (Quick wash)
- Spin Speed: 1200 RPM
Pros
• Excellent water efficiency with 7.5 L/kg/cycle
• 6 Motion DD technology
• Direct Drive for quiet operation
Cons
• No Wi-Fi connectivity
• No AI fabric detection
Another good one, but more focused on efficiency than smart features. Adds water conservation with 6 Motion DD, steam washing and all the same reliability as LG. Plus it has great performance with 5-star energy rating.
IFB vs LG: which is more affordable?
Having relatively similar customer feedbacks, the next aspect that we can compare is the price point.
The cheapest washing machine sold by IFB is the IFB TL series of top-load models that have a retail price of approximately 28,000. I have not yet tried the base models (watch this space), but the lowest priced model that I have tried out is the SERENA OXN 7012, priced at ₹ 35,000.
The highest priced IFB in the entire category is the ₹ 95,000 IFB WDR Executive ZMN. We have also the IFB SERENA ONX 9012 that will cost you ₹ 55,000.
I have already said that there is a wide difference in pricing in IFB vs LG debate and cheapest LG washing machine available in the market currently is the LG T series top-load priced at ₹ 26,000. The LG FHB1207Z2M is another item that should be mentioned, but this ₹ 38,000 front-load washing machine is the budget-friendly model of the company.
On the other extreme, the most expensive LG you can purchase is the ₹ 75,000 LG FHD0905SWM. It is the recent washer-dryer combo of this brand, and it does have a number of new technologies, which is also less than the premium IFB Executive. On discounts, however, it is highly worth visiting festival sales and exchange deals.
Given that the two brands have offers often, we would wait to see the washing machine of your preference on sale so that you can acquire it at the best price.
Should You Buy IFB or LG?
Both of these manufacturers produce quality washing machines and depending on your needs, they may be met by any one of these models listed above.
